L&T will construct a 21 km cable-stayed bridge across river Brahmaputra
L&T will construct a 21 km cable-stayed bridge across river Brahmaputra- Larsen & Toubro (L&T), a leading Indian engineering and construction giant, has announced its latest ambitious project: constructing a 12.21 km cable-stayed bridge across the mighty Brahmaputra River in Assam. This monumental feat of engineering will not only improve connectivity in the region but also serve as a landmark symbol of progress.
The bridge, aptly named the Palashbari-Sualkuchi Bridge, will boast a 3.6 km cable-stayed portion, flanked by approach roads stretching 5.61 km on the Palashbari side and 3 km on the Sualkuchi side. The impressive 165-meter maximum span of the cable-stayed section reflects the project's scale and complexity.
This large-scale infrastructure project, valued between ₹2,500 crore to ₹5,000 crore, highlights L&T's expertise in transportation infrastructure development. The company's proven track record in executing similar projects, like the Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge, instills confidence in the successful completion of this latest endeavor.
Beyond its impressive length, the bridge promises significant economic and social benefits. It will significantly reduce travel time between Palashbari and Sualkuchi, a major textile hub, boosting trade and tourism in the region. Additionally, it will provide a crucial link to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, further enhancing connectivity.
The project is not without its challenges. Constructing such a massive structure across a dynamic river like the Brahmaputra requires meticulous planning, advanced engineering techniques, and meticulous environmental considerations. L&T's commitment to sustainable practices assures that the bridge's construction will minimize its impact on the delicate ecosystem.
With a targeted completion time of 48 months, the Palashbari-Sualkuchi Bridge is poised to become a reality. This landmark project represents a significant step forward in infrastructure development for Assam and the entire North-Eastern region. It embodies India's growing prowess in engineering and construction, promising a brighter future for the region and its people.
